Student Spotlight

Are you on the fence about investing in a Ground Theory course to help with your study preparation?

We interview TEAM member Josh about his experience with our PPL Theory Course - and get his take on what it was like to study with TEAM!

Hey Josh! What made you choose TEAM for your Ground Theory?

After doing my Cirrus conversion with Alyce, I saw how great an instructor she was, and decided that if I was going to tackle my PPL exam, that she would be a great person to learn the content from. I also knew that I probably wouldn’t do as well trying to study the content at home by myself, so I booked the time off of work and invested in the course.

Did you find the material in the ground theory course relevant to the final exam?

The content was extremely relevant - when I sat the exam there wasn’t a single question that came up for me that wasn’t something we had spoken about in the course. The PPL exam covers an enormous amount of content. Studying at home was leaving me overwhelmed and without direction. The PPL Ground Theory Course pointed me in the right direction and gave me exactly what I needed to study from each topic.

What would you say to other students considering investing in a ground theory course?

I would say to absolutely do it! It’s a great investment, and the benefit for me personally outweighed any cost and time involved. Just being able to get a thorough understanding of what content I needed to learn was so valuable and saved me so much time. It gave me more confidence, and the constant support all of us students received was above and beyond. The instructors from TEAM truly care about the success of their students.

How did you find the office environment?

The office environment is great and friendly. It is a nice quiet area to focus on learning, and when you’re in there you don’t feel distracted by anything. Being off airport is such an advantage as you can focus purely on learning, without constant aircraft noise. The office is comfortable and modern, it has coffee (important!), a fridge to store your lunch, and plenty of undercover parking.

How long after the Ground Theory course did you attempt your exam?

I took my exam about 2 weeks after the course ended, to give myself more time to revise and study the content further, and to take practise exams, and then I went in and passed on my first attempt, with a score of 85%. This was an amazing result for myself, and a result that I certainly don’t think I would have achieved without taking the ground theory course. Thanks TEAM!
